Internet Explorer as an FTP client.
|
Make sure that the "Enable folder view for FTP sites" option is selected in the "Advanced" tab of "Internet Options" ("Tools" menu).
To log on to an FTP site that requires a password, type the URL in this form:
ftp:// user: password@ ftpserver.com/ url-path
Where user is your user name, password is the password, ftpserver.com is the ftp server address, and url-path is the directory to log in to.

Some important points about using Internet Explorer as an FTP Client:
- Since Internet Explorer displays the contents of the FTP site in "folder view", you can upload and download files or folders by copying them or dragging and dropping, as you would in any other folder window. This view also allows you to delete and rename files on the host.
- You can change file or directory permissions by right clicking on the file and choosing the properties option.

 |
- Internet Explorer will "remember" the password until you quit the program.
- Internet Explorer will display your User Name and Password as part of the URL on the screen while connected to the FTP Server.
